The album is highly spiritual in nature. Where Power and Divine Fire share a positive example of perspective, Gods and Animals empowers listeners with it's driving chorus while simultaneously mocking the trend of self-worship at the expense of something higher.

The album is bookended by an intro as well as a full song based on a life-changing dream Chamberlain had as a child, wherein everything in reality was made of divine music. While these two songs encompass Eric Chamberlain's inspiration, Gods and Animals, both as a song and as an album titles, highlights the core issue of choosing a spiritual path.
